iotheatre productions basics: props

In all theatrical productions, props are used to represent imaginary objects just as actors represent imaginary people. At iot productions, props represent objects with some type of special significance, value, or use in the production world that separates them from mere scenery and costuming. A prop is recognizable from the rest of the set dressing by its colored prop tag.

Green prop tags represent props owned by iot. At some productions, you may choose to perform using some of your own props in addition to those provided by iot. Props that belong to you are labeled with blue prop tags. If you choose to use a prop you own at a performance where doing so is appropriate, remember that it must undergo inspection by iot staff to make sure that it meets realism and safety requirements.
